I got this idea for a paper craft project from a pretty shop window display. It goes very well as a decoration in the middle of a table or a shelf. You can also make it from colored paper or add some drawings, but I think it looks quite nice just in plane white. Here’s a figure of an angel you could print and cut out to make this decoration. Hope you or your kids try it, it’s very easy to make!

Valgaften – danish short

Valgaften (Election Night) is a nice comedy that won the Oscar for short film in 1999. The whole movie is about a guy who forgot to vote on election night and tries to do so before the polls close. It’s really a great film about racism and it portrays pretty well how some of the Danes and other nationalities living here think. (The movie has English subtitles, I watched it in a Danish class without them and I really didn’t understand much of it, but lucky for me I found this youtube version). Let me know what you think about it.

Entanglement is a pretty nice puzzle game. The purpose of it is to create a path as long as possible, by switching the tiles, right or left. Have fun playing it!

Famous Objects from Classic Movies is a game like hang man, but with movies and you get hints in the form of different famous objects from various films. It’s pretty cool because you can also check out the IMDB page of every movie. I spent like an hour solving it and I got 54 right and 29 wrong. Did anyone get more ?

London calling!

London is amazing! It’s the most wonderful city I’ve visited so far and if you haven’t seen it by now, put it on your “to go to” list. The most striking thing about London was the contrast between the city’s buildings. I mean you got everything there from ultramodern spaceship looking-like monsters and skyscrapers to the beautiful baroque cathedrals and old Victorian style architecture. London is quite big compared to the “villages” I’m used to living in, that it’s just breathtaking to walk around the city sightseeing.

Almost all the museums have free entry and I just briefly got to see a couple of them, because I only stayed there for 3 days. You really need more than that to see all of what London has to offer. Although now it’s not the greatest season for visiting, there were still many tourists around and I can imagine how crowded it must get during summer time. Taking the tube was a must while in London. It’s really hectic, there are so many people coming in and out, going left and right, it’s so busy, you could easily get lost in the waves of people. One plus is that you may encounter some nice street performers there and do be careful to “mind the gap” and stay on the right on the escalators!

I recommend visiting St. Paul’s Cathedral, you should go all the way up top to the Golden Gallery to see an amazing view of London, The National Gallery, which has huge a collection of Western European paintings, The British Museum if you want to see mummies and all kinds of history related things and the famous China Town. Also try a stout in one of their lovely pubs on Brewer’s Street in Soho, the classic fish and chips meal and some Cadbury chocolate while there. I didn’t like the fact that they close the pubs so early during week days, around 11 pm and 3 am in the weekends. Other than that, everything was just great.

Would I rather live in the The Netherlands? Hell yeah, the only downer is that HIV/AIDS statistics, but I think, there are good ways to prevent that. Anyway, go ahead, give it a try and tell me then where would you rather live?

Concurs de biliard pentru bloggeri

Sâmbăta aceasta, pe 15 octombrie, va avea loc un concurs de biliard pentru bloggeri organizat de Bogdan. Participarea nu presupune nicio taxă, doar trebuie să scrieți un articol la voi pe blog în care să menționați că vreți să participați. Concursul va avea loc la Club Angel, Ploieşti, B-dul Bucureşti nr.24A, la sensul giratoriu, vis-à-vis de Liceul de Chimie.Vor exista și premii din partea Maguay și Calendula.

Cu toate că nu le am cu biliardul mai deloc, aș fi participat și eu dacă eram acasă. La club există și darts, wii, internet wireless moca și un bar, deci dacă nici voi nu vă pricepeți la biliard, dar vreți să socializați cu bloggerii prahoveni, înscrieți-vă la concurs!

Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) este o dramocomedie romantică. Poantele sunt bune, actorii joacă bine, Ryan Gosling și Steve Carell sunt foarte haioși, iar filmul are un twist drăguț la final.

Submarine (2010) este povestea unui adolescent, jucat foarte bine de Noah Taylor, care încearcă să-și țină părinții împreună și în același timp să-și facă o prietenă. Mi-a plăcut modul de redare inedit al poveștii, iar un plus a fost coloana sonoră cântată de Alex Turner de la Artic Monkeys.

Buna! Ce faci? (2010) este o comedie simpatică. Îmi place să văd un film românesc care nu vorbește despre comunism, sărăcie sau cât de nasol este în România. E adevărat că încearcă să semene cu comediile romantice americane, dar pe mine nu m-a deranjat asta.

Nowhere Boy (2009), o dramă biografică, prezintă adolescența lui John Lennon, începuturile carierei sale și problemele legate de mama sa. Filmul este captivant și merită să-i dați o sanșă chiar dacă nu sunteți fani Beatles.

Am primit de curând o leapșa de la Bogdan care ne-a prezentat două dintre remixurile lui favorite. Recunosc că și eu am câteva melodii la care prefer remixul în locul originalului. Sper să vă placă propunerile mele și aștept să le aud pe ale voastre
